Mukah
Location
Location : Mukah Division is located on the central coast of Sarawak, facing the South China Sea. It is an important Melanau cultural hub and a key fishing industry center.
Historical Background:
Mukah was once part of the Brunei Sultanate before coming under Sarawak's White Rajah rule in 1861.
Known as the "Land of the Melanaus", Mukah has a strong Melanau heritage, which differs from the Iban and Bidayuh cultures.
Traditionally, the Melanaus were fishermen and sago farmers.
