ETYMOLOGY

“Port”

• The term “Port” signifies its historical role as a maritime trading post and harbor. Port Dickson served as an important port town for the region, facilitating trade and commerce along the Malacca Straits.


“Dickson”

• “Dickson” is believed to be named after Sir John Frederick Dickson, who was a British official during the colonial era. He served as the Governor of the Straits Settlements, which included Malacca, Penang, and Singapore, from 1872 to 1873.
