Jempol

Historical Background: Jempol is a district located in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, with a rich historical background influenced by the Minangkabau culture. Jempol, like other areas in Negeri Sembilan, was settled by the Minangkabau people from Sumatra, Indonesia. They brought with them their matrilineal system (Adat Perpatih) and established a society based on agricultural practices and communal living.

- The Minangkabau influence is evident in Jempol's social structure, cultural traditions, and architectural styles, including the distinctive rumah adat (traditional houses) with their distinctive buffalo horn-shaped roofs.


Etymology: Topographical Features some suggest that "Jempol" may have originated from a local geographical feature or landmark that resembled a thumb (jempol in Malay).
